SWtCW: Standfast pt. 3Mid Rim, Republic Relay Outpost
The crump of explosions sounded as the incoming droids marched their way through the improvised minefield surrounding the relay outpost. Atop the outpost Jedi Knight and General Choyel Dowitire watched the Separatist forces closing in around her limited forces. She was pleased to see that the mines were having some effect, blowing gaping holes in the lines of the droids. There were still hundreds of them and her meager forces were heavily outnumbered but it was something.
As the droids drew nearer the weapons teams around her opened fire with their repeating blasters both from the rooftop and from the approaches to the outpost's entrance. Waves of blasterfire poured into the advancing droids and for a brief moment Choyel felt that perhaps they had a chance as the droids' return fire spattered harmlessly against the walls of the outpost, unable to fire effectively at the raised positions of the heavy repeaters. Then something massive loomed out of the dro

“Commander,” called the clone monitoring the relay station's sensor systems. “I've got something.”
Commander Iago was on his feet immediately as he crossed the outpost's command room to look over the trooper's shoulder.
“Multiple hyperspace signatures.” the trooper replied as he indicated the screen. “I'm not a sensor specialist but it looks like a half-dozen ships if I'm reading this correctly,”
Iago nodded grimly. He didn't like the odds that this might be a Republic relief force. It was far more likely to be a Separatist force come to finish them off. He watched the screen grimly as the signatures coalesced into distinct readings.
“Wake General Dowitire.” he ordered as he raised his comlink. “All units, we are now in a combat footing, man your posts.”
The outpost was a hive of activity as Choyel moved through it. Contrary to what her troops believed she hadn'

The Clone Wars: Standfast
As the Separatist's Operation Skyfall—the Mid Rim Offensives—overwhelms the front lines of the Republic war effort, a small group of clones under the command of Jedi Knight Choyel Dowitire and her Clone Commander Iago try to find a way to rejoin the war effort after being stranded on an abandoned science station. With no long range transport, limited manpower and few supplies the small force must watch as the Separatist warmachine marches past them inexorably and trust in the Force that they remain unnoticed long enough to find a way to fight back. Unbenknownst to them their presence has not gone unnoticed and Count Dooku dispatches one of his most deadly agents to eliminate the Republic holdout behind the Separatist lines. Meanwhile, a rescue force comprised of Jedi Knights Freya Nerlo and Dee'la Korra race to assist their fellow Jedi and the forces under her command, diving deep into the teeth of the enemy offensive in a mad dash to pre

Shik-ten watched as the Jedi she and the Major were supposed to watch entered the Council chamber. His blue eyes shot briefly towards herself and Major Valhallen before they turned back to his fellow Jedi.
“Masters,” he said with a respectful bow.
“Master Kahan,” Master Rancisis said solemnly. “The Council has reached a decision.”
Master Kahan looked around at them for a moment before speaking.
“And that would be?”
Master Rancisis gestured towards Shik-ten and Major Valhallen.
“Major Valhallen will be assessing your performance as a combat leader. You will remain in command until he has reported back to the Council at which time we will make our own decision regarding your suitability to remain in command.”
Shik-ten had to hand it to the Jedi, he didn't react much upon learning that he was going to be babysat. He simply inclined his head respectfully.

SW: Better than a LollipopMishka ducked down the alleyway, looking over her shoulder to make sure no one in the passing throng was following her. She wasn't used to going to the nicer parts of the Vertical City, she was far too dirty and honestly never had the money for it...nor did she want to earn the ire of the inhabitants by stealing. However this time she had the money and had bought what she needed legitimately and that was what worried her. Given her ragged clothing and dirty appearance there was no way for anyone to mistake her for anything other than what she was: a gutter rat and street urchin. Granted she was a Zeltron, and that helped a little, everyone liked Zeltrons. She'd learned that at a young age and knew how to use it to her advantage.
Satisfied that no one had followed her to try and take her money or the package she had tucked under her arm she moved further down the alley until she came to a grate and knelt, lifting it despite the obvious weight of the metal and ducking down beneath the st
SW: Naboo Heavy ArmorThe whine and crack of energy weapons sounded across Theed's streets as battle droids exchanged fire with clone troops and Naboo Security Forces. The stones causeways were littered with rubble and shook with the rumble and thunderous fire of armored vehicles. Overhead Naboo and Republic starfighters swooped back and forth as countless droid fighters crisscrossed the skies with them. The battle ebbed and flowed as units engaged and disengaged throughout the once beautiful city now embattled by the forces of the CIS and its droid armies.
“We need support!” Titus shouted into his helmet comlink. “We're being overrun!”
As he spoke he heard another shout and poked his head around the corner in time to see another of his comrades fall. There were only a handful of them left and as he watched a CIS MTT swung around the street corner and began advancing, its heavy cannons tearing into stone and clone alike with ease.

The passageways of the Kellion were dark, the entire ship seemed devoid of any life and the only light came from the glowrods that Orchid and Jaeriel had brought with them. The emergency systems didn't even seem to be working, the atmosphere was stale and the artificial gravity was weak at best. Orchid let out a cry of alarm as a particularly heavy step propelled her higher than intended. Jaeriel reached up for her, pulling her back down as she jerked her helmet.
“How's your oxygen level?”
Orchid checked, nodding.
“Alright,” Jaeriel affirmed. “Once we reach the bridge we'll see if we can find additional oxygen packs, maybe restore some of the systems from there as well.”
“Do you think we'll find some of the crew?” Orchid asked nervously as she looked around them at the deserted passageway. “I haven't seen anyone.”
She bumped into Jaeriel's pack then, stopping and frowning at her girlfriend who was stan

Jaeriel looked up from her work on her custom A-wing the Ace in the Hole. Her younger sister Ay-lana was seated on a crate in the Dream Eater's hangar alongside her, and both she and Jaeriel's ears perked up at the familiar voice as Orchid made her way through the packed hangar of the star destroyer. There were dozens of fighters and shuttles around the hangar, some of them in their launch cradles, others sitting on the deck being worked on by their crews. The fighters of Goldsaber stood out from the rest, their colorful panoply truly setting them apart from the standardized colors of the rest of the Republic starfighter squadrons present within the hangar.
“Your girlfriend is nervous.” Ay-lana remarked. “I think she's still unsure about me.”
Jaeriel sighed and scowled at her little sister in annoyance.
“How much longer are you going to call her 'my girlfriend' instead of 'Orchid'?”
Grinning from ear to ear, Ay-lana's features were
JaerielxOrchid: Arm WrestleThe gathering of pilots and crew around the makeshift table formed from a crate was a buzz with noise and cheers as Jaeriel gripped the hand of the Republic Marine opposite her. She wasn't using her mechanical arm, in fact she'd taken it off and laid it out on the crate to prove the point that she was capable of arm wrestling with just the one hand, quite literally. A few members of Goldsaber were present, watching her as she smirked at her opponent with knowing smiles of their own.
“Alright!” Ashna called, the excitable Zeltron grinning widely. “Everyone ready?”
Jaeriel nodded, her expression confident as the Marine, a Zabrak male, gripped her hand tightly and smirked at her.
“Ready to lose darling?”
“Keep thinking that dikut.” Jaeriel replied as Asha raised her hand.
Jaeriel felt the Zabrak's grip tighten immediately and did the same as her arm muscles surged in her right arm. Her lips parted as she grip

The door to Rena's quarters opened with a hiss and she stumbled into it, wincing as she staggered to her bed and sat down. She could feel the stitches in her side and wanted so badly to scratch them or even just rip the shabla things out. Damn but she hated being allergic to bacta. It made getting banged up all the worse. Gabril had wanted to come with her back to her cabin but she'd threatened to break his wrist if he tried. They might be married but that didn't mean she was about to let him baby her.
A soft knocking on the door drew her attention back to the moment as she heard Kahan's voice.
“Mom?” he called quietly. “Can I come in?”
Rena snorted, a slight smile playing across her features despite the pain.
“Only if you use the Mando'a I taught you.”
There was a hesitance and for a moment Rena thought that the kid wouldn't remember the right word but then he spoke.
“Buir? Can I come in?”
Now Rena did smile, feeling a sense of pride in
Lost Lives 18: Decisions and ResolutionsXierra looked up from her console as Kahan materialized besides her in her newly minted office space in her family's palace.
“I take it the Senator is dead?”
Kahan nodded, looking at the slanted skull, bleached white, sitting on Xierra's desk.
She nodded with a smile, her clawed fingers tracing the skull playfully.
“Dear sister was very noisy and quite messy when she died...but I wanted to keep something to remember her by.” her eyes flashed dangerously. “And remind others with.”
“Why?” Kahan asked, not moving from his spot besides her.
Xierra sighed and looked across the office space for a moment before speaking.
“Because I wanted to do it myself. I've always used you to do my dirty work until now...this was personal...this was my sister. I wanted to see the fear in her eyes when I came for her.” she smiled. “I didn't want my family's blood on your hands, even if she was a traitorous bitch, I couldn'

Ruto's face flushed a little as she helped the elderly woman to the door of the practice.

Mrs. Wormley turned to regard Ruto for a quiet moment before speaking again.
“You know, don't think because I'm an old woman I don't see the way you look at him when you think no one's watching.” she placed a hand on Ruto's, clasping it gently. “I'm rooting for you, whenever you get the courage to tell him.”

Aira-ty was taken aback by her father's outburst, stepping back from him in surprise as he shouted at her.
“Wh—what's wrong?” Aira-ty asked in bewilderment as she looked from her mother to her father. “I thought you would be happy!”
“Happy!?” her father raged. “Happy that my daughter wants to marry some Muggle!?”
Understanding hit Aira-ty like a hammer as she looked between her parents and saw the look of disapproval on her mother's features as well.
“Y—you can't be serious.” she said. “You won't let me marry him because he's a Muggle?” she shook her head. “That's not right or fair!”
“Fair has nothing to do with it young lady!” her father shouted, his face red with anger. “You are not going to disgrace this family!”
Aira-ty rounded on him fully, shouting now herself.
Kaira: LotR 15 (songs on the wall)The great halls of the Kingdom Under the Mountain were unlike anything that Kahan had ever seen in his life. The vast vaulted ceilings held up by masses of stone pillars towered above him and served to make him feel as though he traveled through the belly of a great beast. Echoing through the halls could be heard the fall of hammers and the roar of furnaces, serving as a stark tune through which the singing of the Dwarves of Erebor could be heard. His escort remained silent, leading him through the ringing halls without a word as Kahan took in all around him with wide eyes.
“Have you never seen a dwarven hall human?” Niklos finally asked.
Kahan shook his head. “Never, I have only ever met a handful of your kith and kin.”
“Well you'll meet more than your fair share today I wager.” Niklos replied as they took a turn and came to a stop. “The King Under the Mountain lies ahead human, wait here.”

Kaira: LotR 14The broken ground that separated the city of Dale from the Lonely Mountain was not a long stretch, not when compared to the journey from the city upon the lake to Dale itself. Guo-Jia urged Nidea onwards into the shadow of the looming mountain that rose up in silent solitude, her spirit ill at ease in the presence of the ominous peak. It looked so wholly alien to her, used to the rolling plains of the east where the eye could see to the horizon unobstructed by anything akin to this singular mountain that towered over everything around it. Nidea didn't seem any keener on approaching the mountain, though perhaps is was also the weight of the man of the West sitting behind Guo-Jia that unsettled the nimble horse.
If it had been told to her a season ago that she would be riding towards the center of the Dwarven world with a Westerner at her back she would have laughed. Now though that very thing was a reality and the change in her life was unsettling to say the least. As the base of the mo
Kaira: LotR 13The speed with which the gates of Dale were opened once Xierra presented herself and their company to the gatemen was worthy of note. They didn't even question the presence of Guo-Jia now that she was in the company of Xierra and as they passed beneath the stone archway that led within the city's walls Kahan remarked to her just how swiftly the deed had been done given the earlier reluctance of the guards to admit Guo-Jia.
“They merely know their place,” Xierra replied with a chuckling smile.
In the predawn gray their party moved quickly through the slumbering city of Dale. Its inhabitants were not yet aware of the advancing danger to them and while the silence was tranquil in its entirety, it was also foreboding as Kahan imagined the silence to be that of death rather than slumber.
“Do not let your fears infect your surroundings human,” Aira-ty said from behind him as she squeezed him in what almost seemed reassurance. “You must present yourself to a king
Kaira: LotR 12“You are sure of this?” the Master of Esgaroth asked worriedly as he paced behind his desk.
Kahan nodded earnestly as he gazed upon the man.
“Yes, we have it directly from the mouth of an Easterling who escaped the destruction of her clan and we encountered Easterling scouts on the borders of the city.”
The Master wrung his hands, shaking his head fretfully.
“This is grave news if true, the King must be warned.”
“Our companion has already continued north towards Erebor and Dale.” Kahan provided.
The Master nodded. “Yes of course, but,” he looked to Aira-ty. “I see that your companion here is an elf, which I infer means that your other traveling companion must be the Easterling?”
Kahan nodded. “That is correct my lord.”
The Master frowned. “That may pose a problem if her kin are the ones coming to wage a war against us, I doubt her words will be heeded.”
